The aim is to put a comprehensive strategy in place to protect them, their families, and their assets.

Wills are often the reason people come to speak to our solicitors, although the conversation rarely stops there. More often than not, our discussions evolve and we talk about Powers of Attorney, Trusts, and Tax Planning too.
-
Life can be complicated and any estate or succession planning can have tax consequences. At Holmes Mackillop, we are able to advise on all aspects of Inheritance Tax (IHT), Capital Gains Tax and Income Tax to ensure that your goals are achieved in the most tax efficient way.
-
Trusts can be used for a variety of reasons but, more often than not, their purpose is to protect vulnerable beneficiaries. They are also commonly used for asset protection or tax planning purposes. Trusts can be set up during a person’s lifetime or through their Will. In every case, the tax implications need to be carefully considered and we provide specialist advice on all aspects.
-
A key part of what we do for our clients is trying to make sure that every eventuality is covered for the future. Life can be uncertain and unpredictable so it is important that, should something unexpected happen to you, the appropriate legal provisions are in place to allow your affairs and welfare to be looked after.
-
The death of a family member or friend can be a difficult and distressful time. Our personable and empathetic team is able to guide Executors and beneficiaries through the entire process.
Our aim is to relieve the burden and offer reassurance to everyone involved. We are experienced in dealing with estates of varying value and complexity, whether there is a Will in place or not.
